How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

CS: Six years.   

What drew you into the industry?

CS: I honestly stumbled into it. Our CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer, as he jokes) Bob Danielson approached me about an opportunity to come join the team, and at the time, I had never even heard of a “manufacturers’ rep,” let alone in the plumbing industry. I decided to take a leap of faith and it has worked out thus far.  

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

CS: Without question the relationships that you can develop. Oftentimes, they go far beyond any sales call and I think that is the best part.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

CS: I wish people understood that the trades in general — no matter which avenue (plumbing contractor, distribution, manufacturer, or rep) — can be a great career path and track to make a good living. I would also love to see more diversity and inclusion in the industry overall. Growing up in an inner city environment, I can tell you the plumbing and mechanical industry was never a part of anyone’s thought process. Awareness is key.

What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?

CS: Being awarded a President’s Club Award in 2019 for Salesperson of the Year for one of our manufacturers.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

CS: Some people may laugh, but I am still a kid at heart. I am an avid gamer. I will occasionally stream on Twitch as a hobby.

“Chris Shores has been calling on us for about five years now. He came into this industry with no experience, but a drive to learn. He first started working with us as our Milwaukee Tool rep and always went above and beyond. A couple of years ago, Chris was awarded the Milwaukee Rep of the Year for the entire country. Last year, he branched out of his comfort zone again and took a territory with BDA. We instantly requested that Chris be our rep, and I know multiple other Win organizations also requested to have him. I spent 10 years as a rep myself and I will admit that I can be very hard on reps that do not do their job.
