WaterSense, a partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), works collaboratively with companies, utilities, organizations and communities to encourage innovation in manufacturing and water savings. Since 2006, the WaterSense label has made it easy for consumers to find high-performing, water-efficient products. Millions of Americans are saving water, energy and money by installing WaterSense labeled products in homes and businesses. According to the WaterSense 2021 Accomplishment Report:

  • Showerheads: 11,465
  • Toilets: 6,120

Since its inception, the WaterSense program has saved 6.4 trillion gallons of water. 1.1 trillion gallons was saved in 2021 alone.

WaterSense has helped reduce the amount of energy needed to pump, treat and heat water by 754 billion kWh — enough to supply a year’s worth of power to more than 70 million homes, and eliminating 288 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions or the equivalent of planting 4.8 billion trees, and saving consumers $135 billion in water and energy bills.
